"Honoring The Fallen" proudly salutes the valiant U.S. military service members, who made the ultimate sacrifice ... going beyond self ... for our beloved America that includes my mother's twin brother(19), who did so in the hedge rows of Normandy shortly after D-Day.
I wrote "Honoring The Fallen" when my youngest son was serving with the Marines in Iraq ... in response to the constant concern that my wife and I endured coming true ... with a knock on the door delivering the heart wrenching devastating news that no loved one wants to hear. (My son returned home safely, missing becoming a fallen by a fraction of an inch.)
Special Note... The A signed printing of the "Honoring The Fallen" poem was made available to the USO for sharing at its Dover AFB facilities where the fallen are returned to America and their waiting loved ones. The poem might also be available at other USO locations.

I cannot help but think of those, Whose anxious wait ended with a knock, The wrenching ache felt deep down to the toes, Knowing there was no more ticking for this clock.
Their brave loved ones served for our country's sake Be it yesterday, today, and time yet known, Giving it birth and to protect ... not take. Their ultimate sacrifice shown.
The blinding tears of TAPS being played. The overwhelming sadness of the colors given. The proud thought of the difference made. The final salute to the fallen . . . now in heaven.
And while there is a special day, That we honor the memory of the gift they gave, It should go well beyond a national thought in May, Like every time when seeing the flag wave!
While the information above my poem explains why I wrote "Honoring The Fallen", I created the video illustrating "Honoring The Fallen" ... with special emotional thoughts visualizing my mother and her twin brother's heavenly reunion after seeing her last breath taken ... with the memory always nearby ... knowing a heavenly greeting awaits for me too!"
