USS Iowa (SSN 797) Commissioning April 10, 2025
April 5, 2025 - Sailors assigned to the Virginia-class fast attack submarine USS Iowa (SSN 797) man the rails during a commissioning ceremony at Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Connecticut. SSN 797, the third U.S. Navy vessel to be named for "The Hawkeye State", operates under Submarine Squadron (SUBRON) FOUR, whose primary mission is to provide attack submarines that are ready, willing, and able to meet the unique challenges of undersea combat and deployed operations in unforgiving environments across the globe.
